A Lace pillow, with Bucks type lace being made.
A Honiton Lace pillow with Maidment sampler pattern.
This Lace pillow was made from a 12 inch cake board base and stuffed with wood shavings
(which were compressed by being sat upon every day, whilst the pillow was being made).
The lace pattern, shown, is a Bucks point ground motif for a glass paperweight requiring
118 standard bobbins and 9 gimp bobbins.
All the bobbins, except three, are mid-nineteenth century or earlier and have nineteenth century
beaded spangles. The three modern bobbins, which are holding gimp threads, comprise one
rare bone Belgian bobbin (right of centre front) and two Danish bobbins with beaded balls at
the base (at the rear of the pillow).
